Ladies & gents, girls & boys, it’s time once again to poke fun at the conservative drones who think they have some sort of presence on Twitter.

Light Touch Reform

I just had to explain to someone the fuss about the federal government’s proposed reforms to media regulation in Australia.

This morning on Radio National Breakfast I heard yet another example of the moribund state of Federalism, co-operative or otherwise, within our democracy.

By now, unless you’ve been hiding out on the dark side of the Moon dear reader, you’ll have heard or read about the suspected suicide of one Jacintha Saldanha, a nurse at King Edward VII hospital in London. In case you HAVE indeed been on the other side of the Moon, here’s a link so you can be up-to-date.

Today’s editorial appearing in The Melbourne Age. It speaks not volumes, but libraries of volumes. There is a better way forward. Australia has no need of dog-whistling, bible-thumping, narrow-minded political opportunists or poll-driven, electorally fearful and inconsistent leadership as representatives in our Parliament. We need people of character, moral standing and a willingness to stand by their genuine Australian ethos. Australia doesn’t need A change…..Australia simply needs TO change.

Here’s to a subject which is annoying me of late, and doubtless annoying the piss & pick-handles out of a lot of others as well.

Listening to ABC Radio National this morning, I am now convinced more than ever that Main-Stream Media – MSM to we in the ‘sphere – are entirely out of touch with issues of gender surrounding our body politic at present.

Apropos of yesterday’s revelations regarding cockles, mussels and jam, not to forget to mention the Gillard excoriation of Abbott in Question Time, I’m driven to wonder just why Peter Slipper needed to be racked out like so much biltong.

A young woman, not much older than my own daughter, was raped and murdered last Sunday morning in Melbourne.

Why are people so blatantly stupid?
