I just had to explain to someone the fuss about the federal government’s proposed reforms to media regulation in Australia.
This is why we, the voting public, refuse to take the main-stream media in Australia any more seriously than the Watchtower we so often find jammed under the front gate or in the letterbox. Frankly, from my perspective, this style of so-called journalism is just about as popular and needed as the ignominious JW’s at the front gate.
Today’s editorial appearing in The Melbourne Age. It speaks not volumes, but libraries of volumes. There is a better way forward. Australia has no need of dog-whistling, bible-thumping, narrow-minded political opportunists or poll-driven, electorally fearful and inconsistent leadership as representatives in our Parliament. We need people of character, moral standing and a willingness to stand by their genuine Australian ethos. Australia doesn’t need A change…..Australia simply needs TO change.
Listening to ABC Radio National this morning, I am now convinced more than ever that Main-Stream Media – MSM to we in the ‘sphere – are entirely out of touch with issues of gender surrounding our body politic at present.
The Drum is always a good read. Sometimes contentious, sometimes fatuous, and often thought provoking. Today’s effort by Jonathon Green falls within the first & latter categories in my view.
